The top two sides in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division warmed up perfectly for their colossal clash in midweek with home victories on Saturday.
Tadcaster Albion stay two points clear of Worksop Town, who they travel to on Wednesday night, after a 4-0 win over Nostell Miners Welfare with Liam Ormsby scoring twice whilst Jimmy Beadle and Matt Heath also got on the scoresheet.
Worksop, meanwhile, came from behind to beat visitors Barton Town Old Boys who drop to sixth, Steve Woolley and Conor Higginson securing a 3-2 victory after Tom Elliott's opener for the Tigers had been cancelled out by Scott Phillips and Henry Gill had put the Swans ahead by the half-hour mark.
The chasing pack, however, remain within touching distance with wins for both Handsworth Parramore and Clipstone, Luke Fletcher and Simon Harrison netting in Parramore's 2-0 victory at Athersley Recreation and a Jahmal Smith hat-trick helping Clipstone beat Garforth Town, 5-0, at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.
Brody Robertson also scored three as Cleethorpes Town climb into the top five with a 6-0 thumping of hosts Pontefract Collieries whilst Albion Sports complete the top seven after a 3-0 win at Parkgate.
None of the bottom six could find a win with basement side Brigg Town losing 5-0 at home to Pickering Town, the Zebras conceding four in the first thirty minutes with two each for Ryan Cooper and Lewis Taylor.
Brigg manager Andy Foster stepped down following his side's twelfth defeat in fifteen games which leaves his side two points behind Armthorpe Welfare who drew 1-1 at home to Retford United, Tom McLaughlin rescuing a point for them eighteen minutes from time.
Liversedge and Thackley joined fellow strugglers Nostell and Athersley in tasting defeat with Sedge going down 4-1 at home to Maltby Main and Thackley losing 3-0 at Staveley Miners Welfare.
Rainworth Miners Welfare consolidated a top-half position with a 1-0 victory at Bridlington Town, Sam Dockwray with the winner on 71 minutes.
In Division One, AFC Mansfield made it six wins out of six on their travels to stay top of the table by four points, Dean Rick and Sam O'Malley making sure of a 3-1 triumph at Eccleshill United in the second half.
There were victories for Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Bottesford Town to keep them within four points of the leaders.
Nash Connolly's late winner saw Hemsworth prevail, 2-1 at home to AFC Emley, whilst Bottesford strolled to a 5-2 win at Teversal.
Lewis Dickinson got both of Penistone Church's goals as they beat hosts Westell VIP, 2-1, to move up into fourth spot and Hallam climb to fifth after a Josh Birds brace put them on their way to a 5-0 victory at next-to-bottom Grimsby Borough.
Winterton Rangers put some daylight between themselves and Borough as they won 4-1 at home to basement side Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Josh Batty with two of their goals, for vital three points.
There were away wins for Shirebrook Town, 2-1 at Selby Town, and for Hall Road Rangers, 3-1 at Yorkshire Amateur, whilst Knaresborough Town enjoyed a 4-1 home victory over Glasshoughton Welfare and Rossington Main's trip to Dronfield Town ended in a 2-2 draw.
