Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #22

22nd October, 2015

The biggest crowd of the season so far watched the top two sides in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League face each other in midweek.

Leaders Tadcaster Albion won 2-1 at Worksop Town to move five points clear of the Tigers having played two games more.

Nick Black put them ahead on three minutes before Jason Mycoe added a second midway through the opening half and Steve Woolley got a late consolation for the home side in front of 879 spectators.

Goals from Scott Phillips and Ashley Dexter in the first quarter of Barton Town Old Boys' match at Cleethorpes Town earned them a 2-0 victory that moved them above their hosts into fifth spot.

Rainworth Miners Welfare return to the top eight after a 6-0 home win over Armthorpe Welfare, Liam Morris with a hat-trick for the Wrens, whilst Thackley won 4-1 at Nostell Miners Welfare to leapfrog over their opponents out of the bottom five.

In Division One, Bottesford Town moved to within a point of leaders AFC Mansfield as they strolled to a 7-0 win against visitors Grimsby Borough, Terry Barwick with two of their goals.

Nathan Perks struck three times as Glasshoughton Welfare defeated Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, 5-1, at Leeds Road and AFC Emley's Ashley Flynn grabbed a dramatic winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time to win 2-1 at Shirebrook Town.

Teversal, meanwhile, picked up a point on their travels as Paul Staniforth's strike earned them a 1-1 draw at Eccleshill United after Liam Charles had given the home side an early lead.

Penistone Church became the latest side to reach the Third Round of the League Cup as the Division One side beat their Premier Division hosts, Athersley Recreation, Oliver Fearon and Brett Lovell with the goals in a 2-0 victory.

And, in the First Round of the West Riding County Cup, Garforth Town went through in an enthralling 4-3 home win over league rivals Yorkshire Amateur and a brace each for Tom Brook and Vaughan Redford saw Liversedge progress, 5-2, against visitors Pontefract Collieries.
