22nd November, 2015

Cleethorpes Town and Handsworth Parramore booked their places in the Third Round of the FA Vase with home victories on Saturday.

Cleethorpes overcame Midland League side Racing Club Warwick, 2-0, with Tim Lowe's eighteenth minute opener added to by a late strike from Jonathan Oglesby.

Parramore, meanwhile, went behind to Toolstation NCEL rivals Hallam on 21 minutes through Michael Blythen but goals in a twelve minute second half spell from Sam Denton, Mitch Ward-Cupitt and Kieran Wells put them in control before Blythen got his second in what was a 3-2 win for the hosts.

AFC Mansfield will replay in midweek at Alsager Town following a 1-1 draw after extra-time at the Forest Town Arena, Ryan Williams cancelling out a Jordan Johnson goal in second-half stoppage time after the visitors had thought they had snatched a late win.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare bowed out 5-1 at home to Sunderland RCA whilst there were away defeats for Garforth Town, Maltby Main and Shirebrook Town at Runcorn Town, Seaham Red Star and St Andrews, respectively.

The highly-anticipated clash between Tadcaster Albion and Worksop Town was cancelled due to a flooded pitch at the i2i Stadium and the tie is rearranged for Tuesday night.

In the Premier Division, there was action on Friday night as Nostell Miners Welfare and Liversedge played out a goalless draw whilst, on Saturday, Clipstone missed out on a chance to return to the top three as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Pontefract Collieries.

Liam Radford and Aaron Moxam had the visitors two up in the opening thirteen minutes and it took the home side until the 82nd to open their account from Jahmal Smith.

Two quickfire second half goals for Matthew Mathers and Lewis Morgan secured Albion Sports the three points they needed to climb into sixth with a 3-1 home win over Athersley Recreation.

They go above Barton Town Old Boys who went down 2-1 at Pickering Town, Ryan Cooper and Matthew Turnbull with the Pikes' goals.

Jamie Yorke netted in the fourth minute of stoppage time to snatch a point for Rainworth Miners Welfare at Retford United to draw 2-2 and keep the Wrens in eighth spot after Jason Bradley had given the hosts a two goal lead.

A hat-trick from Kieran Watson, with two coming from the penalty spot, helped Staveley Miners Welfare to a 4-0 win over visitors Parkgate and the Trojans are up to ninth in the table whilst Thackley were 3-0 home victors against Armthorpe Welfare.

In Division One, Alex Hallam netted both of AFC Emley's goals in a 2-0 home defeat of Knaresborough Town and they are now fourth ahead of Hull United on goal difference as the Citizens also won, 3-1 at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, with Jordan Harrison getting a brace.

Winterton Rangers moved out of the bottom three as Craig Palmer struck twice in their 3-1 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare, Lee Holmes netted in Rossington Main's 1-0 win at home to Eccleshill United and it ended goalless between Hall Road Rangers and Selby Town at Haworth Park.
