Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #34
3rd December, 2015
The much-anticipated and much-postponed FA Vase Second Round clash between the top two sides in the Toolstation NCEL finally took place in midweek and it proved to be a bit of an anticlimax.
Tadcaster Albion ended up being comfortable 4-1 winners over their visitors Worksop Town to set up a trip to Northern League outfit Sunderland RCA a week on Saturday.
Josh Barrett put the Brewers ahead on ten minutes and Adam Baker doubled their advantage by half-time before Nick Black made it 3-0 early in the second period and Baker quickly added his second and his team's fourth.
Steve Woolley claimed a consolation for the Tigers with eleven minutes remaining in front of a crowd of 307 at the i2i Stadium.
Meanwhile, a number of League Cup Third Round games managed to beat the recent wet weather and go ahead with a milestone reached at AFC Emley's 3-2 win at Bottesford Town where Ashley Flynn notched up 50 goals for the season when he put the visitors ahead on 25 minutes.
Bottesford managed to battle back from two goals down to level the match but Jordan Corduri got what proved to be the winner on 78 minutes.
The biggest shock, though, came at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium where Division One Grimsby Borough won 2-1 at Premier Division Clipstone, Jamie Coulson and Carl Martin with their goals, sandwiching a first half injury time strike from Adam Somes for the hosts.
Armthorpe Welfare won 5-3 at Retford United with David Buck and James Walker's goals in the second half sending them through after the first period ended 3-3.
Knaresborough Town and Selby Town also tasted victory on their travels with 2-1 scorelines at AFC Mansfield and Hallam, respectively, with Selby needing an extra-time winner from Danny Norton to progress.
Meanwhile, Handsworth Parramore comfortably disposed of visitors Shirebrook Town, 5-1, to make it into the last sixteen.
Two goals from Liam Morriss helped Rainworth Miners Welfare to a 3-1 home win against Maltby Main to move the Wrens up to fourth in the Premier Division.
And, Hull United climb to second in Division One as Nick McNamara's injury time winner grabbed them a 1-0 victory over visitors and local rivals, Hall Road Rangers.
