Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #4

18th August, 2016

Rossington Main, Harrogate Railway Athletic and Hall Road Rangers booked the last three places in the Third Round of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup with victories in midweek.

Rossington and Rangers had the easier nights, winning 4-1 on their travels to Shirebrook Town and Eccleshill United, respectively.

Jason Stokes, Niall Doyle, Jack Johnson and Regan Kelly netted for Main whilst there were two goals each for Ashley Dexter and Christopher Spinks to seal Hall Road's progress.

Harrogate, meanwhile, were taken to extra-time by their Division One visitors Ollerton Town and won 3-2 courtesy of a last-gasp strike from Stephen Bromley.

Earlier, Brandon Dean had rescued Rail from a shock upset as he scored in stoppage time at the end of the second-period to force a further half-hour after goals from Joshua Bowkett and Cameron Mitchell had looked set to send Ollerton through.

In the Premier Division, the battle of two promoted sides saw hosts Bottesford Town prevail, 2-1, at the expense of AFC Mansfield, Joshua Nichol with a late winner after Oliver Fearon had cancelled out their early opener from Daniel Boulton.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare top the early table after Daniel Henighan and Nash Connolly found the net in the last ten minutes to rescue a point in a 2-2 home draw with Bridlington Town after a Sam Leigh own goal and a Daniel Harris strike had seemingly given the points to the Seasiders.

Handsworth Parramore, like Bottesford, have won their opening two games after their 4-0 victory at Armthorpe Welfare, Jon Froggatt, Kieran Wells, Tom Claisse and Samuel Denton all getting on the scoresheet in the opening period.

A Richard Paterson brace, followed by a Lee Whittington strike, saw Clipstone prevail 3-0 at home to near neighbours Rainworth Miners Welfare with all the goals coming before the interval.

Casey Stewart's winner four minutes from time gave Garforth Town a 3-2 win over visitors Maltby Main whilst there were 1-0 victories for Albion Sports at home to Athersley Recreation, Aron Heywood with the goal, and for Pickering Town at Staveley Miners Welfare, Ryan Cooper's strike claiming the points.

And, 451 people watched Worksop Town and Cleethorpes Town share a point each in a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Windsor Foodservice Station, the Tigers' Mark Fereday and Cleethorpes' Peter Winn both netting in injury time in a game that ebbed and flowed all night.

In Division One, early pacesetters Campion drew 3-3 at home to Glasshoughton Welfare with Eli Hey's goal towards the start of the second half proving to be their vital equaliser.

Dale Kelly earned Penistone Church a 1-0 victory over visitors AFC Emley and Nostell Miners Welfare came from behind to win 2-1 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Daniel Harris with the 62nd minute winner.
