21st August, 2016
Six Toolstation NCEL sides remain on the Emirates FA Cup trail after wins at the weekend whilst two more look to join them when they take part in replays on Tuesday night.
Handsworth Parramore's victory in the Preliminary Round was perhaps the most impressive as they dispatched Evo-Stik League visitors Stocksbridge Park Steels, 4-1, coming from behind with goals at the end of the first period from Thomas Dugdale and Jon Froggatt followed by second half strikes from Kieran Wells and Conor Higginson.
A Gary Bradshaw brace saw AFC Mansfield gain revenge for being knocked out by East Midlands Counties League side South Normanton Athletic last season with a 2-0 victory at the Forest Town Arena.
Nathan Peat snatched a last minute winner for Brigg Town as they prevailed 2-1 over visitors Blaby & Whetstone Athletic whilst Bridlington Town came from 2-0 down in the opening ten minutes at Guisborough Town to win 3-2, Brett Agnew with two of the Seasiders' goals.
There were home victories for Harrogate Railway Athletic, who beat Norton and Stockton Ancients, 3-1, and for Pontefract Collieries, 2-1 over Bootle.
Nicholas Thompson and Matthew Turnbull struck for Pickering Town as they drew 2-2 at Washington to force a replay with Worksop Town finishing with the same scoreline at home to Ashton Athletic on Sunday, Richard Adams and Steven Woolley getting the Tigers' goals.
The NCEL sides to bow out with defeats were AFC Emley, Bottesford Town, Cleethorpes Town, Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Parkgate.
In the Premier Division, Liversedge are up to third in the early table after a 2-1 win at Staveley Miners Welfare, Vaughan Redford and Brandon Kane's goals sandwiching a Kieran Watson strike for the home side who have been beaten in all three of their games so far.
Armthorpe Welfare are also yet to get off the mark and have yet to score a goal as they went down 3-0 at home to Maltby Main, three goals in as many minutes in the middle of the second half finishing them off, whilst Retford United are also on zero points from their first two matches after they were beaten 5-0 at Thackley who climb to fourth.
A Kai Hancock hat-trick helped Athersley Recreation to a 4-2 win at Rainworth Miners Welfare, there was a double from Omar Habeeb as Albion Sports were victorious at Barton Town Old Boys, 3-2, and Garforth defeated visitors Clipstone, 2-1.
Eccleshill United surged to the top of Division One as goals in the last two minutes from Anil Singh and Alex Cusack claimed them a 4-2 home win over Ollerton Town, going above overnight leaders Campion who drew 2-2 at Grimsby Borough.
Penistone Church's goalless draw at Teversal was enough to see them up into third spot, a point ahead of fourth-placed Hallam who won 4-1 at the side that drops to fifth, Hall Road Rangers.
The biggest win of the day was enjoyed by Knaresborough Town who won 7-0 at home to Shirebrook Town, Tom Hesketh with the only goal of the first half before the second period saw goals for Brad Walker, Colin Heath, Gary Collier, Tom Woollard and Sebastian Carole as well as an own goal to compound the away side's misery.
Stephen Smith struck twice late on to cancel a Callum Harrison pair as Nostell Miners Welfare bounced back to draw 2-2 at home with Glasshoughton Welfare.
There were 2-1 wins for Dronfield Town at home to Westella & Willerby and for Selby Town at Yorkshire Amateur whilst Rossington Main defeated visitors Winterton Rangers by a single goal.
