Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #6

25th August, 2016

Worksop Town and Pickering Town both bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup as they were beaten in their Preliminary Round Replays in midweek.

Despite leading twice through Steven Woolley and Adam Somes, Worksop were forced into extra-time with an equaliser by hosts Ashton Athletic in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time to make it 2-2.

With no further addition to the score, the match went to penalties which the Hallmark Security League side won, 4-1.

And, Pickering were beaten 2-1 at home by Ebac Northern League outfit Washington, Callum Ward with their goal on the hour mark after the visitors had struck twice early in the game.

Bottesford Town top the Premier Division after a 4-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare, Matthew Steeper, Martin Pembleton, Reece Newell and Gareth Barlow adding misery to their managerless hosts who have now lost all four of their opening matches.

Bottesford have a hundred percent record so far as have Albion Sports who beat Rainworth Miners Welfare, 5-1, at Kirklington Road, Aaron Moxam putting the home side ahead before Josh McKiernon levelled on the half-hour.

Asif Hussain then put Sports in the lead early in the second period before three quickfire goals at the end - one from Omar Habeeb and two from Daniel Facey - confirmed the victory.

Clipstone join Bottesford and Albion Sports on nine points from their five games after Joshua Nodder struck twice for a 2-1 win at Bridlington Town after Joel Sutton had put the Seasiders ahead from the penalty spot.

A first-half hat-trick from Vaughan Redford put Liversedge three goals up at Handsworth Parramore but Jon Froggatt pulled one back prior to the interval and the hosts produced a fine comeback with goals from Alex Rippon and Connor Smythe after the break to make it a point apiece in a 3-3 draw.

They are both on seven points along with Thackley who drew 1-1 at home to Maltby Main, Daniel Clayton earning them a point by cancelling out a sixth-minute Shawn Mitchell strike, and Cleethorpes Town who beat visitors Staveley Miners Welfare, 3-1.

Liam Dickens broke the deadlock for them before Ashley Rawson made it 1-1 and then there were goals in the last ten minutes from Timothy Lowe and Marc Cooper to claim the victory.

Garforth Town are also on seven points after Mark Simpson's early double saw them draw 2-2 at home with Barton Town Old Boys, Jonathan O'Callaghan and Chris Fairhurst with the away side's goals in the second half.

And, Harrogate Railway Athletic got their first win in the league with a 3-1 victory at Athersley Recreation.

Campion are back top of Division One after their 5-3 home win over Shirebrook Town with Eli Hey putting them ahead on nine minutes before parity was quickly restored by Oliver Grady.

Steven Hollingworth struck twice for the hosts before the visitors once again drew level with Ryan Hall's strike and a Matthew Langley penalty but Campion would take the points with a Scott Eastwood spot kick and a John Booth goal in the final ten minutes.

Pontefract Collieries made it two wins out of two with a 3-1 home victory over Westella & Willerby, Alex Wood netting late for the visitors for a consolation after Jamie Williams, Christopher Wood and Michael Dunn had sealed the points for the hosts.

Lewis Dennison struck the winner in Brigg Town's 2-1 win at home to Hallam to also put them on six points after two games.

And, a Kieran Ryan brace helped AFC Emley to a 5-1 triumph over visitors Teversal with their other goals coming from Thomas Brennan, Jordan Townend and Ashley Flynn whilst Khyle Sargent got on the scoresheet for their Nottinghamshire opponents.
