Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #26

3rd November, 2016

The line-up for the Fourth Round of this season's Toolstation NCEL League Cup is almost complete after four Third Round matches in midweek.

Hallam stormed into the last sixteen with a 10-0 home demolition of fellow Division One side Winterton Rangers with a seven minute first half hat-trick from Jack Hargreaves setting them on their way after Daniel Flynn and Callum Greaves had opened the scoring and then second half braces from Scott Bates and Steven Brammer, along with a goal from Matty Ord, completed the rout.

Division One Knaresborough Town provided an upset as they beat Premier Division visitors Armthorpe Welfare, Colin Heath putting them ahead on 24 minutes before the away side restored parity through Luke Williams but Brad Walker made sure of a 2-1 victory midway through the second period.

A double from Oliver Fearon helped Premier Division AFC Mansfield to a 3-0 win at Rossington Main whilst Harrogate Railway Athletic also overcame Division One opposition as Fraser Hansen struck twice in their 5-2 home defeat of Campion.

Only one Third Round tie remains with AFC Emley hosting Worksop Town next week.

Albion Sports bowed out of the West Riding County Cup at the Second Round stage but not before they gave National League hosts Guiseley a scare.

Sports were two goals down going into the last ten minutes but Temour Khan and then Rhys Jenkinson netted to force the game into a penalty shoot-out that the hosts won 5-4.

In the Premier Division, Hemsworth Miners Welfare climb to eighth after a 2-0 win at sixth placed Pickering Town, Nicholas Guest with both of their goals, one in each half.

Meanwhile, Shaun Nesbitt, Thomas Ellis and Kurtis Morley struck in the last twenty-five minutes as Staveley Miners Welfare won 3-0 at home to Garforth Town to move up into fourteenth whilst Garforth drop to sixteenth.

Division One leaders Penistone Church drew 0-0 at fellow top five side Pontefract Collieries whilst Grimsby Borough are up to second, behind Penistone on goal difference, after their 4-2 win at Dronfield Town.

Despite taking the lead, Borough found themselves 2-1 down on 35 minutes before Jack Debnam levelled and goals from Craig Mitchell and Lee Croft in the second half swung the game back in the visitors' favour.

And, Joe Brennan's hat-trick ensured a 3-1 win for Emley at Brigg Town which moves them up to eighth in the table.
