A dramatic midweek of Toolstation NCEL action saw the top two Premier Division sides and the Division One leaders all lose whilst Nostell Miners Welfare were the first team condemned to relegation.Pickering Town had been unable to move up to the summit of the top flight as they were beaten 2-1 by mid-table hosts
Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Tuesday night.
Samuel Jones put the home side ahead on six minutes and Nash Connolly doubled their advantage early in the second period before Samuel Denton pulled one back for the Pikes midway through the half.
The win sees Hemsworth climb to thirteenth whilst Pickering remain in second, behind
Cleethorpes Town on goal difference, after the top side also tasted defeat, 3-0 at home to
Albion Sports, on Wednesday.
Lewis Morgan broke the deadlock for the Lions and then Daniel Facey's second half brace secured a comfortable win for the visitors who are now up to sixth in the table.
Third-placed
Bridlington Town won 2-1 at home to
Handsworth Parramore to move within three points of the top, Andrew Norfolk and Joel Sutton netting for the Seasiders after the interval to turn the game around following Aaron Moxam's 43rd minute opener for the away side.
Thackley go above Parramore into fourth as Mike Garrod's hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 win at
Harrogate Railway Athletic, Daniel Broadbent also getting on the scoresheet before Stephen Bromley found the net for the hosts.
In Division One,
Pontefract Collieries were unable to extend their lead at the top to four points as they went down 1-0 at home to
Brigg Town, Lewis Dennison with the vital strike on 38 minutes.
Grimsby Borough stay fifth but have moved to within goal difference of fourth-placed
Penistone Church after beating them 3-0 at the Bradley Football Development Centre, Darren Hanslip's opener added to by an own goal from Ryan Johnson whilst their third came from Jack Debnam.
A 2-0 home victory for
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic over visitors
Knaresborough Town means Nostell can no longer finish outside the bottom two, Jack Mawson and Mitchell Wilshire scoring at both ends of the match.
And, Daniel Fletcher scored the only goal of the game as
Teversal won 1-0 at neighbours
Dronfield Town.
Three Premier Division games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches -
Barton Town Old Boys' home clash with
Athersley Recreation,
Parkgate's trip to
Liversedge and the clash between
Staveley Miners Welfare and
AFC Mansfield.
And, two Division One matches also fell by the wayside -
Hallam's match at home to
Shirebrook Town and
Yorkshire Amateur's game at
Westella & Willerby.
