New Chairman Boost for Dinnington
21st August, 2011
On the eve of Dinnington Town's FA Cup tie away against Pickering Town, the Baris NCEL Division One side were given a boost as they revealed their new chairman.
Mick Kent, who is Company Director of local business Powertech-Industrial Ltd has been involved in football for many years with his association with Dinnington Town's Central Midlands Reserve team.
That team plays with style and the first signs look good for the future, some of the squad already progressing into the NCEL team and set to be involved in today's trip to Pickering.
A club spokesperson said: "Off-the-field, we quickly found Mick had ambitions for the club. He saw the potential with the great local support for the first team, and the successful junior section it has.
"He has come up with some great ideas for the future so, after some consultation with the existing Senior Committee, we decided to offer him the role of chairman which he gladly accepted.
"We stuttered in our progress last season and subsequent relegation but we believe Mick is the guy that Town have been waiting for to take the club forward to better things. We all look forward to working with him for the good of the club."
Kent said: "Obviously I would like to thank everyone involved with Dinnington Town for making us feel so welcome.
"I feel with some hands-on hard work and TLC the club has real potential to move forward but, after such a disappointing last season, things on-the-pitch have to be put right first.
"On that note, I feel we are going in the right direction with some home grown players coming through.
"We have two great youth squads with all managers and back room staff pulling in the same direction and with new kits and sponsors coming.
"This season can only be described as exciting and I can only urge all supporters and everyone involved with Dinnington Town to come and support your local team and make the lads proud to wear the shirt."
