Davey steps down at Knaresborough
7th July, 2015
After eight years at Knaresborough Town, Brian Davey has resigned from his position as manager of the Toolstation NCEL Division One team in a shock move just prior to the start of the new season.
Davey took over the reins at Manse Lane in the summer of 2007 when he and assistant Duncan Falconer moved across from Harrogate League club, Sherwood.
He continued in that role bringing much success to the club and overseeing the move into the Northern Counties East League at the start of the 2012-13 season.
Under Davey's management, the club took the West Yorkshire League Premier Division title in 2009, the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup in 2010 and capped a great second season in the Northern Counties East League with victory in the League Cup Final at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground in May of last year.
In addition, the Harrogate & District FA's Whitworth Cup was won three times in 2008, 2010 and 2014.
A club spokesperson said: "The committee has expressed surprise and disappointment at Brian's decision, but understand that he wishes to move on and thank him for all his hard work and commitment over his time at the club.
"Brian leaves with the best wishes of all at the club."
