Regan Leaves for Premier League
29th January, 2012
Joint Manager Sean Regan and Thackley have parted company this week by mutual agreement after Sean successfully gained a position at a Premier League club.
As a result, he cannot give the commitment that is required to continue his work at the Baris NCEL Premier Division side.
Sean has provided the following statement: "I have been given a great opportunity to coach at one of the biggest clubs in the world - certainly the biggest in my eyes - on a part-time basis.
"It is, therefore, with deep regret that I have to resign from my post at Thackley FC due to my new commitments and I wish Thackley all the best in the coming years because they are definitely a progressive club.
"Initially, a number of years ago, I came to Thackley to gain some coaching experience when I was taking my UEFA A licence.
"Following a season as manager at Liversedge and a spell in a coaching position with Scunthorpe United, I little realised that four years later and after working with four different managers I would have been back at Thackley.
"It has been a fantastic experience that I will never forget. It seems like I have been around the block working at grassroots, non-league and at professional clubs but it is all good experience and I see this as another new venture.
"I wish to say a big thank you to everyone involved at the club who have supported me throughout my time there - the committee, the volunteers who help to keep the place running and especially the players.
"I will definitely miss the lads around the club and the banter, but I think they will understand how it is.
"Who knows - one day I may be back in the non-league game, because it does have a special effect on you once you get the bug."
Everyone at the club wishes Sean every success in his new venture and he is assured of a warm welcome at Dennyfield in the future.
