FA Vase Tie Raises Money For Charity
2nd March, 2012
A local charity is set to benefit greatly from Staveley Miners Welfare's FA Vase clash at home to St Ives Town on Saturday.
It has been announced that Baris Facades & Linings Ltd, sponsors of the club and the Northern Counties East Football League, are to make a charity donation to the Western Park Hospital Cancer Charity based in Sheffield of ?1 for each person who attends the game.
The donation has arisen from the charity ball that is being held at Chesterfield's B2Net Stadium this evening at which Baris/Staveley Miners Welfare were invited to attend by Dave Allen of Chesterfield FC and A & S Leisure/Napoleons Casino.
Terry Damms said: "Dave rang me and asked us to support the charity as it is something he is very keen to do.
"So, we felt we should not only support the event this evening but also make sure tomorrow's FA Vase game helps this superb charity fundraising idea by Dave and his businesses and Chesterfield FC.
"If we could muster 500 or 600 at tomorrow's game then we would be delighted to donate a cheque to the charity for the same number in pounds."
