Brigg Town keeper Jody Barford is taking off his gloves and putting on his running shoes later this month when he takes part in the Humber Bridge Half Marathon to raise money for the British Lung Foundation.Along with a group of his friends, he will take on the thirteen mile course in Hull on Sunday 26th June, 2016.
On his fundraising JustGiving page, Jody - who has also played for Cleethorpes Town and Retford United - says: "As you are all probably aware recently I lost my mum due to complications after pneumonia and living with COPD.
"Myself and a handful of merry men want to honour her and complete this event, raising money for her chosen charity.
"The merry men include Matthew Sutton, Graeme Sutton, Matthew Hillary, Craig Hillary and me, Jody Barford, others are welcome so don't be shy get your trainers on and have a go!!
"At her funeral recently, we received a very generous collection for the charity and our aim is to add more to the pot before we donate it all.
"Any contributions will be gratefully received as well as any support on the day."
