New Cobras manager announced
18th January, 2017
Clipstone have moved quickly to appoint the successor to Billy Fox who resigned as manager of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side on Tuesday.
The Cobras' committee has asked Ian Cotton to take over at the helm and he has accepted the offer.
Clipstone-born Cotton has played for the club and managed the reserve side for one season winning the league and the club says that he will be assembling a squad of mainly local players to enable them to fulfil their remaining fixtures this season.
It has also been confirmed that chairman Dave Paling is stepping down from his role due to business and personal commitments.
In a statement, the club said: "The committee would like to place on record their total appreciation for Dave's brilliant support for the club over the last few seasons.
"Not only has Dave provided financial backing but he has also tirelessly undertaken the many numerous jobs required at a non-league club like Clipstone and was usually the last to leave the ground, many hours after the completion of a match."
Meanwhile, the Cobras are now looking for as much help as they can get for the rest of the season after almost resigning from the league last week.
They said: "Many people have come forward over the last ten days to express support for non-league football continuing in Clipstone.
"It is now vital that local people show their support by coming to watch the team against Garforth Town on Saturday 21st January.
"We would also welcome more assistance at the ground on match days. Please speak to a committee member if you feel you can assist in any way."
