Charity football match for Help for Heroes
15th June, 2017
Barton Town will be recreating the iconic match from the film Escape to Victory next month to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.
Allied Prisoners of War took on the German national team in the 1981 movie that starred Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Pel? and Bobby Moore.
And now, the Easy Buy Stadium will re-enact that game on Sunday 23rd July, 2017, (kick-off 3pm) to support those with injuries and illnesses sustained while serving in Britain's armed forces.
The teams will wear replica kits that will then be donated to two local adult football sides drawn at random from those who have entered a free draw.
Clubs interested in taking part in that draw are asked to email the Old Boys' Community Officer Owen Tayor at owen@bcsdesign.co.uk by Friday 21st July, 2017, for more details.
Admission on the day of the match will be ?2 adults, ?1 concessions, and free to children aged 16 and under as well as to any current or former armed forces personnel including cadets.
There will be a raffle, food and refreshments and the Barton Town Brass Band will be in attendance, playing the Escape to Victory theme tune before kick-off.
