Former NCEL Referee Gets An MBE
31st December, 2010
Congratulations to Howard Webb who has today been named in the latest New Year Honours list.
The 39-year-old has been awarded an MBE to mark a wonderful year in which he was chosen to referee both the World Cup and Champions League finals.
It was the first time that someone had taken charge of both of those matches in the same year.
Howard, who comes from Rotherham and began his career as a match official in the Northern Counties East League, has said that the honour caps "an unbelievable twelve months."
