21st November, 2010
The top of both KoolSport NCEL Divisions have become a lot tighter after the weekend?s matches, especially in Division One where only three points now separate the top seven sides.
Premier Division leaders Farsley AFC's stuttering form continued with a 1-0 defeat at home to Tadcaster Albion, former Farsley player Tom Woollard grabbing the only goal of the game midway through the first half.
It was the Throstle Nest side's third defeat in four games and second placed Parkgate took full advantage, winning 3-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare to cut the gap to three points.
Nathan Swindells, Ashely Worsfold and Keir Hannity all struck in a thirteen minute period during the second period for Doug Shelley's team.
The biggest League crowd of the season saw Bridlington Town lose some ground in third spot as they drew 3-3 "away" at Scarborough Athletic in the Queensgate Derby.
725 spectators watched Michael Price give Scarborough the lead in the opening minute before Steve Lyon levelled as the game went into first-half stoppage time.
Scarborough went ahead again on 59 minutes through Ryan Blott but parity was restored within sixty seconds as Craig Hogg made it 2-2 and then Bridlington got their noses in front for the first time through James Bennett.
But, Blott scored his second on 70 to make sure that the spoils were shared.
Fourth placed Brighouse Town remain a point clear of Tadcaster after Nicky Boshell's penalty and Nathan Cartman's injury time goal gave them a 2-0 victory at Thackley.
The bottom two were both beaten at home with Hallam remaining below Liversedge on goal difference.
The Sandygate side lost 4-1 to Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Martin Brissett putting them ahead before Sean Cann, Ben Good, Tom Garrick and Joshua Schofield made it ultimately a comfortable afternoon for the visitors.
And, Nathan Parker's 24th minute strike saw Sedge beaten 1-0 by Long Eaton United, the visitors climbing into seventh after their victory.
Dinnington Town drop into the bottom three after Maltby Main beat them 3-0 at Phoenix Park.
Dinno replace Arnold Town who move up into seventeenth after their 2-2 home draw with sixth-placed Winterton Rangers.
The Eagles left it late, though, with Tyrone Burton scoring their equaliser in stoppage time.
Armthorpe Welfare picked up their first win in eleven matches and their first on their travels this season as they beat hosts Selby Town, 3-0.
Craig Wilkinson struck early on before Darren Mansaram and Craig Morley made sure of the win in the last quarter-of-an-hour.
And, Hall Road Rangers won 1-0 at home to Pickering Town, courtesy of a last gasp winner from Martin Thacker.
The Division One title chase has become incredibly tight after the top three sides all drew and the five teams pursuing them all won.
Barton Town Old Boys remain top after a 2-2 draw at home to third placed Staveley Miners Welfare.
Ashley Foyle put the visitors ahead before Scott Phillips' penalty and Adam Crane's strike had seemingly given the hosts the win with twelve minutes remaining but Aymen Tahar popped up in injury time to level the scores.
Pontefract Collieries, who are second, drew 1-1 at home to next-to-bottom Appleby Frodingham, Joe Thornton rescuing a point for them after the visitors had taken a fourth minute lead through Scott McKay.
The top trio now only lead by a point after Handsworth and Askern Villa claimed victories.
Handsworth stay fourth after a 2-1 home win over Shirebrook Town, David Cockerill and Ryan Johnson with their goals, Michael Lyall with the consolation for the away side.
And, Villa thrashed basement side Brodsworth Welfare away, 7-1, with five of their goals coming in the last half-hour, Michael Evans grabbing his second of the afternoon before Mel Cotton, Bradley Johnson, Mark Vickerage and Craig Fisher completed the misery for Broddy who are now nine points adrift.
Yorkshire Amateur are two points behind the leaders in sixth spot after Chris Hitchins' first half injury time penalty snatched a single goal victory at home to Eccleshill United whilst seventh placed Louth Town won by the same margin, Matt Kennedy with the strike in the 87th minute, against visitors AFC Emley.
Greig McGrory's late goal saw Leeds Carnegie win 2-1 at Rossington Main, a victory that moves them up into eighth, six points away from the top of the table.
