NCEL 2010/11 Match Review #35
6th January, 2011
KoolSport NCEL Premier Division leaders Farsley AFC?s stuttering form continued as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Thackley in midweek.
The defeat on Tuesday was their fourth in their last five league games and has seen the gap at the top of the table cut to two points.
Shaun Airey and Matthew Morgan struck in the second half to give the visitors the victory that moves them up into seventh spot.
Third met second at the Neil Hudgell Law Stadium with Bridlington Town and Parkgate playing out a 2-2 draw.
The home side led twice through Craig Hogg and James Bennett but Ashley Worsfold levelled on both occasions for the Rotherham side who have been the big surprise of the season so far.
Pickering Town are eleventh after their 3-1 home win over Selby Town as an opener from Tom Adams and a Liam Salt penalty gave them a 2-0 advantage by the interval.
Adam Lee pulled one back for the Robins soon after the break but Josh Greening made sure of the victory on 62 minutes.
In Division One, Barton Town Old Boys missed out on a chance to go top as the second-placed side were beaten 3-1 at AFC Emley on Wednesday.
That made it two vital victories for Emley in three days to move them further away from the bottom three.
They had also played on Monday afternoon where Steve Kenworthy's injury time winner earned them a 2-1 win at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Teversal and Shirebrook Town played out a 1-1 draw at Carnarvon Street with both goals coming in the first half-hour, Michael Lyall equalising for the visitors after Mitchell Slawson had given the hosts a 14th minute lead.
There was an entertaining Wilkinson Sword Trophy tie at Inkersall Road where Staveley Miners Welfare beat Handsworth 4-3 in extra-time.
The game constantly swung one way and then the other with Tyrone Crapper giving the away side an early lead before Chris Coy and Ryan Damms had Staveley ahead by half-time.
Dan Smith and Leon Wainman then put Handsworth 3-2 up before Joseph Thornton ensured another half-hour with two minutes remaining.
Damms then got his second of the afternoon and the winner in the 117th minute to send Staveley, who are looking to win the trophy for the third successive year, into the Quarter-Finals.
NCEL interest in the Derbyshire Senior Cup ended on Wednesday night when Shirebrook Town faced Derby County at Belper Town's ground.
The difference in class sadly told as, despite taking the lead in the opening minute, Shirebrook were beaten 14-1.
And, in a friendly played at Lincoln City's Sincil Bank ground, Lincoln Moorlands Railway won 5-2 at home to Louth Town on Tuesday night.
