NCEL 2010/11 Match Review #38

16th January, 2011

Farsley AFC and Parkgate both sneaked close victories on Saturday to extend the gap between the top two of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division and the chasing pack.

Farsley stay top by two points after a 1-0 home win over Scarborough Athletic, Roy Stamer snatching the vital goal fifteen minutes from time.

Parkgate let a two-goal lead slip at next-to-bottom Hallam before Nathan Swindells struck their winner.

Janni Lipka and Matthew Griffin had them in control by the half-hour before Jordan Turner pulled one back for the hosts by the break and then Phil Reynolds levelled the scores on 59 minutes.

But, Swindells popped up on 73 to keep his side hot on the heels of the leaders.

Tadcaster Albion lost some ground in the title chase as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Selby Town.

They thought they had nabbed a point when Matthew Howgate cancelled out Adam Lee's first half goal on 83 minutes.

But, almost immediately, Bruno Holden restored the lead for the Robins who move up into ninth.

Bridlington Town climb above Tadcaster into third spot on goal difference after their 1-1 home draw with Brighouse Town.

A Nicky Boshell spot kick had Brighouse ahead on 26 minutes but Tom Fleming made sure the spoils were shared with his strike just after the hour mark.

Fifth-placed Maltby Main drew 1-1 with Long Eaton United.

Oliver Warren's opener for them midway through the second period had them ahead until the 87th minute when Adam Campbell rescued a point for the visitors.

Winterton Rangers are up into the top six after Danny Barlow and Liam Wilkin secured them a 2-1 win at home to Thackley after Harry Thompson had given the away side a tenth minute lead.

Liversedge remain bottom of the table after a 3-2 defeat at Pickering Town, Tom Adams' 81st minute strike proving the winner for the hosts.

A Tom Garrick hat-trick helped Lincoln Moorlands to a 4-0 home win over Hall Road Rangers whilst Nostell Miners Welfare were 3-1 victors over visitors Armthorpe Welfare.

As in the Premier Division, the top two in Division One both won to put more daylight between themselves and the rest.

Ryan Damms gave leaders Staveley Miners Welfare a first minute lead at Grimsby Borough and Aymen Tahar doubled their advantage in opening period stoppage time.

Nathan Emson pulled one back for Boro but Staveley held on to remain four points clear at the summit.

Second-placed Yorkshire Amateur's great form continued with a 6-0 home pummelling of Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Curtis Bernard struck four times for the Ammers whilst Patrick Miller and Danny Forrest also got on the scoresheet.

Three of the four sides chasing the leaders lost whilst the other, Pontefract Collieries, saw their game postponed.

Barton Town Old Boys were beaten 1-0 at Teversal, Jez Mitchell with the goal on 83 minutes, whilst Handsworth lost by the same scoreline at Glasshoughton Welfare who move up to seventh.

Askern Villa were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline at home to Rossington Main but stay sixth.

Basement side Brodsworth Welfare picked up only their second point of the campaign in a 1-1 draw at home to Bottesford Town, Jake Holdsworth with their dramatic injury time equaliser.

Eccleshill United were 4-1 winners at Appleby Frodingham, a Greig McGrory double saw Leeds Carnegie triumph 2-1 at AFC Emley and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic beat visitors Louth Town 2-1.
