NCEL 2010/11 Match Review #50
27th February, 2011
Farsley AFC extended their lead at the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division with an 8-0 pummelling of ten-man Arnold Town at Throstle Nest on Saturday.
The Eagles had Simon Hore sent off midway through the first period and, from thereon, the home side dominated.
Ben Jones struck a hat-trick for the table-toppers who netted five of their goals in the last sixteen minutes of the game.
Mark Bett grabbed a brace whilst Thomas Jackson, Simeon Bambrook and Andy Watson also got on the scoresheet.
Farsley's two closest rivals, Parkgate and Bridlington Town, both saw their matches called off due to waterlogged pitches whilst Tadcaster Albion moved up into fourth with a 3-2 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare.
Stuart Rice struck what proved to be the winner on 63 minutes after the visitors had fought back from a two-goal deficit.
Steven Jeff and Marc Thompson had the Brewers ahead by the break before two quick goals after the interval from Fidel Mhlolo and Ernest Boafo brought Nostell back to 2-2.
Nathan Adams' 28th-minute strike saw Lincoln Moorlands Railway beat visitors Pickering Town by a single goal and they climb into the top five.
Scarborough Athletic are up to ninth after a fifth successive victory, 2-1 at home to Selby Town.
Liam Davis had put the away side ahead on 22 minutes but Richard Dunning levelled by the break and Richard Medcalf struck the winner with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Liversedge pulled away from the bottom three with a 1-0 home victory over Maltby Main, Cory Larkin with the first half goal.
Long Eaton United won 1-0 at Brighouse Town, courtesy of a 47th minute strike from Ben Bacon.
Thackley were 3-1 victors over visitors Dinnington Town with Ross Daly, Matthew Morgan and Matthew Mathers all netting in the opening half-hour.
Dinnington played better in the second period but only had Grant Ashby's goal on 47 to show for it.
Only three Division One matches survived the weather, one of them being the clash of the top two.
And, leaders Staveley Miners Welfare will be the happiest, getting a 2-2 draw at Yorkshire Amateur, to keep the gap between the two sides at eight points.
Twice they led in the second period through Ryan Damms and Chris Coy but the Ammers levelled with a Chris Hitchins strike and then an own goal six minutes from time.
Curtis Roberts scored a late winner for AFC Emley in their 2-1 victory at Askern Villa whilst Handsworth won 4-0 at bottom side Brodworth Welfare.
