Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2019/20 #6

25th August, 2019

Three Toolstation NCEL sides made it through to the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday and three more will be looking to join them following replays that will take place at the start of September.

Liversedge, Maltby Main and Staveley Miners Welfare are into the draw for the next stage after all picked up home victories.

Joseph Kenny struck the only goal of the game for Sedge against Northern Premier League side Droylsden with five minutes remaining whilst an Aaron Moxam hat-trick helped Maltby to a 4-1 win over Loughborough University, all of Main's goals coming in the first period after Anthony Wilson had opened the scoring on thirteen minutes.

And, Staveley, like Liversedge, were victors over higher-ranked opposition as they beat Lincoln United 2-1, Michael Burke's early goal added to by Matthew Davies towards the start of the second period before the visitors netted an 88th minute consolation.

Eccleshill United will travel to Glossop North End a week on Tuesday after a 1-1 home draw with their Northern Premier League visitors, Kesiolu Omolokun with a second half equaliser for the Eagles.

Also playing on that night and eyeing the same prize of progression will be AFC Mansfield who drew 0-0 at Heanor Town and Goole AFC who will entertain Dunston UTS after Joshua Schofield's 81st minute equaliser secured them a well-earned 2-2 draw at their Northern Premier League hosts.

Meanwhile, six sides bowed out of the competition with Handsworth beaten 6-0 at 1874 Northwich, Barton Town losing 3-1 at home to Grantham Town, Garforth Town going 4-0 down to visitors Colne, Bridlington Town defeated 3-1 at Pickering Town, Hemsworth Miners Welfare edged out 1-0 at Sunderland RCA, and Winterton Rangers on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline at home to Kirby Muxloe.

Three Premier Division matches were played on Saturday with Grimsby Borough and Yorkshire Amateur both hitting five to claim victories that move them into first and second spot, respectively, in the early table.

Harry Burke, James Dean-Atkinson, James Petronzio, Lewis Bemrose and Joshua Venney all netted for Borough in their 5-0 home win over basement side Athersley Recreation.

It was goalless at half-time in the Ammers match at Knaresborough Town but Luke Harrop put the hosts ahead on 48 before Fernando Moke, Brice Tiani and Ashley Flynn gave the away side a 3-1 lead, a Niall Heaton own goal halved the deficit, and then a Stephen Crawford strike and Flynn's second secured the points for the visitors in the last five minutes.

Alhassane Keita scored twice for Albion Sports but they were beaten 3-2 at home by Thackley, Jack Normanton with a double for the Dennyboys before Asa Mitchell got what proved to be a vital third.

Selby Town head the Division One table, going above Winterton who were on FA Cup duty, as an own goal and an 86th minute winner from Christopher Jackson ensured a 2-1 home win for the Robins over Brigg Town.

Brandon Bagley's 78th minute strike claimed a 2-1 victory for Parkgate at Retford FC and the Steelmen leapfrog their hosts into third spot whilst Skegness Town are up into fourth after their 3-0 home defeat of Hallam.

Ben Davison's early goal was added to in the last ten minutes by Gary King and Leigh Hutchinson as the Lilywhites continue their excellent start to the season.

A Jamie Forrester penalty and a Tom Corner goal helped North Ferriby up to sixth with a 2-1 home win against Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Daniel Palmer pulling one back for the away side on 87 minutes.

Swallownest jump to eighth after a 5-0 victory at bottom side East Hull, Matthew Morton with a double amongst their scorers.

But, Campion went one better on their travels as they won 6-0 at Hall Road Rangers with Mohammad Qasim getting two of their goals in a victory that lifts them into twelfth.

Joe Jagger's double helped Harrogate Railway Athletic to a 3-1 triumph at Rossington Main, Glasshoughton Welfare were 2-1 victors at Dronfield Town with goals from Nathan Perks and Isaac Collier, and Ollerton Town drew 1-1 at home to Armthorpe Welfare.
