After a brief return to a full programme of matches the previous weekend, it was back to a Saturday of frustration this time round as heavy rain forced the postponement of half of the Toolstation NCEL's fixtures.

Three of the top five Premier Division sides were in action but only one of them avoided defeat, Hemsworth Miners Welfare winning 4-2 at Goole AFC to climb up into second and close the gap on leaders Penistone Church to two points.

Sam Jones and Steven Jeff had given them a two-goal cushion by the thirteenth minute but Terence Barwick halved the deficit in first half stoppage time and Reagan Waud brought the Vikings back level early in the second period.

Rikki Paylor, however, restored Welfare's lead just after the hour mark and Nash Connolly ensured victory with their fourth with fourteen minutes remaining.

Hemsworth go above Grimsby Borough who were beaten 3-2 at home by Eccleshill United, although they almost completed an amazing comeback in stoppage time.

The visiting Eagles were 3-0 up going into the 90th minute, courtesy of a first half Eli Hey double and a Talent Ndlovu strike on the hour, but Daniel Trott and then Thomas Jamieson found the net to make the away supporters very nervous and relieved to hear the final whistle.

Bridlington Town, meanwhile, stay fifth after they were beaten 3-0 at home by Bottesford Town, an excellent result for the away side that lifts them out of the bottom two.

Jack McMenemy put the Poachers in front in the second minute before Robbie Leaning doubled their lead on 57 and Jacob Fenton added even more daylight between the teams in stoppage time.

And, in the only other game to survive the bad weather, a late Daniel Thirkell penalty rescued a point for hosts Knaresborough Town in a 1-1 draw after Ben Hinchliffe had put Barton Town ahead in the opening period.

Knaresborough stay seventeenth and Barton climb one place to fifteenth.

AFC Mansfield's home clash with Garforth Town was postponed due to floodlight problems whilst waterlogged pitches meant Handsworth v Maltby Main, Liversedge v Thackley, Silsden v Athersley Recreation, Staveley Miners Welfare v Albion Sports and Yorkshire Amateur v Penistone Church were all called off.

The top two in Division One both won, Skegness Town maintaining a four point gap over second-placed Winterton Rangers with a 3-0 home win over fellow promotion chasers Campion.

Cenk Acar scored six minutes into his debut for the Lilywhites in an eventful first appearance that would also see him red carded whilst Luke Rayner-Mistry and Ben Davison netted in the second half to claim the victory.

Winterton were 5-2 victors at Retford FC after racing into a 4-0 lead by the 35th minute through Nathan Peat, a Daniel Buttle penalty, Luke Anderson and Jaime Ture.

Matthew Robinson got on the scoresheet for the hosts on 63 but any hopes of a comeback ended seventeen minutes later with Buttle's second and there was a late consolation for Retford's Joshua Street.

North Ferriby stay third after their home match with Rossington Main was abandoned on 81 minutes due to floodlight failure, the Villagers were leading 4-0 at the time, and they are ahead on goal difference of Glasshoughton Welfare whose 8-2 home win over East Hull saw them climb to fourth.

Nathan Peat struck four times as they brushed aside their visitors with Mark Ferguson scoring twice, and Ryan Hallsworth and Daniel Youle also adding to their tally.

Joshua Ward and Robbie Tomlinson got the goals for basement side East Hull who remain twelve points away from safety.

Swallownest were 4-0 winners at Brigg Town to move up into ninth whilst their hosts remain in fourteenth.

A Joe Smithson own goal set the visitors on their way in the twentieth minute, Josef Turner added their second before the interval, and then Thomas Cropper and an Oliver Grady penalty completed the scoring in the final quarter-of-an-hour.

The five Division One games called off due to waterlogged pitches were Hallam v Armthorpe Welfare, Harrogate Railway Athletic v Ollerton Town, Nostell Miners Welfare v Hall Road Rangers, Parkgate v Dronfield Town and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic v Selby Town.
