Penistone Church and Skegness Town are the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One leaders going into the New Year after an almost full compliment of matches brought 2019 to an end on Saturday.

Only one fixture was postponed - Hallam's home game with North Ferriby called off due to a waterlogged pitch - on an afternoon that was packed with drama and goals.

Penistone maintain their one point gap at the summit in the top flight as they brushed visitors Knaresborough Town aside with a 4-0 victory that saw all the goals come in the opening period.

Kieran Ryan's double, added to by a Nathan Keightley strike and a William Lenehan own goal, ensured they kept above second-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare who had a more difficult afternoon but won 3-2 at home to Silsden.

Harry Viggars put Welfare ahead but the visitors went 2-1 up with a Joshua Brown double, the first just prior to the interval and the second near the hour mark, before Viggars' second restored parity and Ryan Carroll netted the winner with fourteen minutes remaining.

Staveley Miners Welfare lost a little ground in third spot as they were held to a goalless draw by visitors Bridlington Town who drop to seventh whilst fourth-placed Grimsby Borough fell to a 5-1 home defeat to Albion Sports.

Luke Aldrich scored a ten-minute second-half hat-trick for the Lions who picked up three much-needed points to move them up to thirteenth.

Liversedge and Yorkshire Amateur both claimed away wins to climb above Bridlington into fifth and sixth, respectively.

Alfie Raw, Michael Bottomley, Oliver Fearon and Jack Hardacre had Sedge 4-0 up at Bottesford Town before a late mini-revival by the hosts halved the deficit by the final whistle.

And, the Ammers were made to work hard for their 5-3 victory at bottom side Athersley Recreation, sealing the deal in the last ten minutes when Stephen Crawford gave them a 4-3 lead and Ashley Flynn's penalty secured the points.

A last-gasp brace from Sean Hunter snatched a point for Garforth Town in a 2-2 draw at Maltby Main that keeps them in eighth whilst Main move up into tenth.

In between them is Goole AFC who, thanks to goals from Reagan Waud, claimed a 2-1 win at Eccleshill United who fall to sixteenth below Barton Town who were 3-0 home victors over fellow strugglers AFC Mansfield.

Jack Richardson, Taron Hare and Ben Hinchliffe eased the pressure on the Swans at the expense of the Bulls who remain in the bottom two.

And, Handsworth are now fourteenth after their single-goal home win at the expense of Thackley, Joshua Dacre with the vital strike early in the second period.

Division One leaders Skegness Town were held to a goalless home draw by Selby Town and their advantage at the top has been cut to five points after Winterton Rangers picked up a 2-0 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare.

The breakthrough came on 50 minutes through Scott Matthews and Paul Grimes added the second late on for Scott Hellewell's side.

Campion go above North Ferriby into third after a second-half Mohammad Qasim hat-trick helped them to a 5-2 home win over next-to-bottom Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Glasshoughton are down to fifth whilst Armthorpe Welfare stay sixth following their 3-3 draw at Parkgate, Adam Baskerville rescuing a point for them with a penalty, his second goal of the afternoon, in the 71st minute.

Goals in the last ten minutes from Amir Berchil and Kane Reece secured a 3-1 win for Nostell Miners Welfare to move them up into ninth whilst their hosts Ollerton Town drop into the bottom three.

Basement side East Hull went down 2-0 to visitors Brigg Town, Stephen McCarron and Jake Reed with the Zebras' goals, but there were big wins for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Hall Road Rangers to move them both further away from drop zone.

Two goals each for Ashley Emmett and Kai Hancock gave Worsbrough a 4-1 victory over Dronfield Town and they are up to sixteenth, a place above Rangers who, courtesy of goals from Charlie Birley, Conner Harman and Chris Murray, won 3-2 at Swallownest.

Meanwhile, Retford FC are up to seventh following a 3-2 home win against Rossington Main, Adam Scott's 81st minute winner settling the encounter after a Masassa Kianga double for the visitors had seemingly made it honours even at the Rail.
