Winterton Rangers ended Skegness Town's 140 day run as the leaders of Division One on a Saturday afternoon that was once again packed full of goals in the Toolstation NCEL.Skegness' game at
Hallam was postponed, one of two matches called off in the division due to a waterlogged pitch with the other being
Harrogate Railway Athletic's home clash with
Rossington Main.
Meanwhile, all nine games in the Premier Division went ahead as planned with
Penistone Church extending their advantage at the summit to two points with a 3-1 victory at
Albion Sports.
Ryan Johnson gave them the lead in the first half but had to wait until the 71st minute for their second from Ashley Ellis before Nathan Keightley added a third and then Sam Pashley grabbed a consolation for the hosting Lions who drop to fifteenth.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare started the day in second, behind Church on goal difference, but a 2-1 defeat at
AFC Mansfield sees them fall to fourth.
Layton Swaine had put them ahead at the Forest Town Arena on his debut in the 34th minute but Nicky Darker made sure the scores were level by the interval and Grant Ryan grabbed a late winner for the Bulls whose second straight win moves them eight points clear of the drop zone.
Staveley Miners Welfare and
Liversedge both struck four times to claim wins that move them up into second and third, respectively.
Joseph Pugh's double, added to by Jonathan Froggatt and Mitchell Langton, secured Staveley a 4-0 home victory over
Bottesford Town whilst Sedge made it four wins in a row with a 4-2 defeat of hosts
Knaresborough Town.
Joe Walton struck twice whilst Joseph Kenny and Alfie Raw added to the tally to also make it four successive matches in which Jonathan Rimmington's side has scored four goals.
Bridlington Town climb up into fifth following their 4-1 home victory over
Barton Town in a match that was level after 69 minutes but a Chris Adams brace and an injury-time strike from Thomas Waudby secured the points for the Seasiders.
And,
Grimsby Borough now complete the top six as Joshua Sunter, Lewis Bemrose, Adam Drury and Jack Debnam all netted in a 4-2 win at the expense of visitors
Thackley.
Yorkshire Amateur drop to seventh as they conceded three goals in the last half-hour in a 4-1 home loss to
Handsworth, Leon Osborne, Marley Grant and Jamie Austin with the decisive strikes for the visitors who leap up to fourteenth.
Bottom side
Athersley Recreation remain four points from safety after a 2-1 loss at
Eccleshill United, a first half brace from Antony Brown doing the damage for the Eagles.
And, goals in the opening period from Sam Barker, Charlie Marshall and Samuel Leach ensured a 3-0 home win for
Garforth Town that lifts the Miners up to ninth.
In Division One, Winterton notched up their fourth consecutive victory to go above Skegness by a point, Luke Anderson and Callum Foster scoring at either end of their match at
Nostell Miners Welfare as they won 2-1 with Calum Ward's goal inbetween for the hosts.
Skegness, who had led the table since the 31st of August, drop to second, six points ahead of
Campion whose 4-2 home victory over
Hall Road Rangers sees them up into third.
Aidan Kirby's hat-trick, including two penalties, helped seal the deal for the Bradford-based side whilst Rangers stay in thirteenth.
Selby Town jump into the promotion places after Carl Stewart's hat-trick helped them to a 5-1 win at
Brigg Town whilst
North Ferriby go down two spots to fifth after a 1-1 scoreline at
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, the day's only draw.
Tom Corner had put the Villagers ahead on 51 minutes but Daniel Palmer made sure it was a point apiece with his equaliser just after the midway point in the second half.
Glasshoughton Welfare,
Retford FC and
Swallownest complete the top eight after they all claimed victories.
Nathan Perks scored his twentieth league goal of the season during Glasshoughton's 3-1 home defeat of
Dronfield Town after the visitors had taken the lead in the opening minute through Connor Chapell.
There was a double for Gareth Davies in Retford's win by the same scoreline at
Parkgate and a goal each for Oliver Grady, Daniel Barnsley, Aaron Statham and Matthew Morton as Swallownest came from behind to beat basement visitors
East Hull 4-1.
And,
Ollerton Town opened up a five-point gap between themselves and the bottom two with a 3-0 win at
Armthorpe Welfare, Lewis Price and Lewis Bingham scoring in the first half before Sean Dickinson made sure of the victory with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
