Villa Ready For Donny Visit
6th July, 2010
Askern Villa are getting ready to welcome a full-strength Doncaster Rovers side to the Welfare Grounds tomorrow night (7pm).
Tickets are still available with admission for the game is adults ?6, concessions - OAPs and under-16s - ?3.
The game will be the highest attendance for the club, since records began.
Askern have a few injuries going into the pre-season clash.
New signing, former Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool player David Jones, will definitely miss the game as he is still recovering after an operation during the summer but will start light training soon.
Also missing the game will be 19-year-old Tom Hyde who damaged ankle ligaments two weeks ago.
And, although Brad Johnston and Liam Scully are both hoping to recover from injury worries, they will have fitness tests before the game.
The KoolSport NCEL Division One team begin their pre-season fixtures with a stern test as Rovers, led by Sean O'Driscoll, have promised to bring their first team squad.
The only two players who will miss the game are Byron Webster and Steve Brooker.
It is not only the prospect of Championship opposition that makes the game special for the Villa.
It will give them the opportunity to introduce the local community to the ground for the first time and hopefully they will want to return to the Welfare Grounds.
They will also see the amount of work that has been done at the ground over the summer as the club prepare for the new campaign.
People going to the game are reminded that, on this occasion, the ground's car park will be only used for players and officials whilst the public can use the car park next to Askern Miners Welfare.
