Brighouse Town enjoyed a successful pre-season and excellent opening day as they start life in the NCEL Premier Division for the first time.Saturday's 3-0 victory over Pickering Town was a huge day for the club and hopefully a sign of things to come during the 2010/11 season.
After the game, Town Boss Mark Brier was rightly pleased with his teams performance, saying: "Our attitude, commitment and discipline were all excellent today, we started well and managed to keep it going for most of the match.
"The whole squad contributed, including those who came off the bench and I'm also pleased with the clean sheet.
"However, no one's getting carried away. People always read too much into the first result of the season, but it's still nice to get off to a winning start."
Town's early success could be attributed to a highly professional pre-season campaign that included clashes with local neighbours FC Halifax Town, AFC Emley and victories over Bradford PA, Padiham and Lancashire sides Colne & Rochdale Town.
Brighouse Town have also welcomed numerous new sponsors to the club over the close season and recently released their new partnership brochure (which can be found
here) and is a comprehensive review of all the opportunities that fans, businesses and organisations have of getting involved with a growing and successful football club.
The season has only just begun but the future is looking bright for Brighouse Town FC.
