Influential Winterton Rangers midfielder Danny Frost has made the move up to the Blue Square Bet North League after signing for Gainsborough Trinity.

Rangers Chairman Dave Crowder said: "Danny is a real talent and a fun guy to be around and we wish him all the very best.

"It's always a mixed bag when you lose a player like this.

"On one hand, you're disappointed to see a talent like Danny leave but, on the other, delighted for the lad who is a genuine person who we wish only the best for."

Released by Barnsley as a junior, Frost has played under Winterton manager Richard Sennett for a few years and, although courted by a few teams last season, showed loyalty and a commitment to Sennett and Rangers.

But, now he has been rewarded with a move to work with Brian Little at Gainsborough.

He thanked "everyone at Winterton for all they have done for me, thanks to the Chairman and Committee for all their hard work.

"And a special thanks to Richard, Mark [Turner] and Craig [Mellor] who have brought in a great set of lads that has been the best dressing room I've ever been involved in and I'm going to miss them."

Danny went on to wish Rangers all the best for the season.

He goes into the Trinity squad for their opening game at Worcester, whilst Rangers travel to Greenwood Meadows in their FA Cup tie.
