Brighouse Town's home match with Bridlington Town on Saturday will still go ahead despite last night's devastating blaze at the Dual Seal Stadium.

Following a visit by our Ground Grading Officer, Ian Cox, this evening, it has been confirmed that the match can be played.

And, Bridlington have shown understanding of the situation and are willing to assist Brighouse in any way to get the game on.

Tomorrow's postponed match with Lincoln Moorlands Railway will now take place on Tuesday 5th October.

The League would like to thank everyone for their understanding shown to Brighouse Town in what is a very difficult period for them.

It follows a blaze at the ground in the early hours of this morning that has virtually destroyed the bar, refreshments area and toilet facilities.

Secretary Malcolm Taylor told The Telegraph & Argus: "Parts of our ground are completely burnt out, gutted, like a bomb has been dropped.

"There are charred remains on the floor and twisted metal above that.

"The fire took hold sometime between 2.30am and 3am on Monday morning and was spotted by someone in the houses behind the ground.

"If they hadn't called the fire brigade there and then I think it would have been a lot worse."
