Funk Unveils Backroom Team
16th May, 2011
Scarborough Athletic boss Rudy Funk has revealed his backroom staff for next season.
Funk has re-signed Darren France as assistant manager, and he has also confirmed the signature of Denny Ingram in a player-assistant capacity.
Former Leeds Met Carnegie coach James Earl will be the first-team coach, with ex-Bottesford boss Raz Clayton joining as chief scout.
Andy Woodhead will retain his role as goalkeeping coach, Brian Waltham and Karen Hankey will remain as physios and Dave Jackson will return as kitman.
Funk is also keen to work closely with reserve boss Steve Brennan and under-19 manager Steve Dorey, who contributed a number of youngsters to the side at the end of last season.
MEANWHILE, two teams of star players will come together on Sunday to honour former Scarborough Athletic manager Brian France.
A Scarborough Old Boys team will play a Hull City Old Boys side at Queensgate, Bridlington on May 22nd (kick-off 3pm) in a benefit game for Brian who left his post at Boro last year after sustaining an injury whilst managing the side.
All proceeds from the game will go to Brian, who is continuing his recovery from a brain injury sustained when the ball hit him at Liversedge in September 2010.
He managed Boro from the club's inception in 2007, leading the club to the NCEL first division title in only their second season, and the first promotion of a senior Scarborough side since Neil Warnock's Scarborough FC side of 1987.
The squads will feature famous and well-known players from the history of both Hull City and Scarborough, including former Premier League stars and players who have played for both Hull and Scarborough teams in the past.
