Mason leaves managerial role at Maltby
28th October, 2019
Maltby Main have announced that they have parted company with their manager Scott Mason.
His departure came after Saturday's 3-0 home loss to Bottesford Town, a defeat that leaves the Miners in thirteenth position in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
A statement released by the club on Monday morning said: "It is of course with a heavy heart but the club agreed it was time to change.
"It's a manager's post that requires hard work and commitment and Scott gave it that.
"We wish to go on record here to say that the last two seasons has seen progressive success and we have broken some records along with reaching two cup semi finals.
"Scott has been at the helm of this and it will always be appreciated and remembered.
"However, this season so far hasn't worked as planned and the previous hard work on and off the pitch undertaken by many of us here has unfortunately been compromised.
"Plus, a recent run of defeats and poor performances has made it agreed at board level a change had to be made.
"Louis Axcell will step up to the manager's role for the remainder of the season to keep a steady transition; and he will recruit an assistant.
"Like anyone who has been part of this club, they are always welcome back at anytime."
