Carnegie Announce NCEL Resignation
6th April, 2011
Leeds Carnegie have confirmed to the KoolSport Northern Counties East League today that they will be resigning from the Competition as of the end of the season.
They came into the NCEL at the start of the 2007/2008 season and their most successful campaign came last year when they just narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight.
The NCEL is very sorry to see them go and we would like to thank the club for their participation in the League for the past four years and the professional way in which they have conducted themselves during that time.
Smooth Transition at Carnegie
16th January, 2011
Leeds Carnegie have moved quickly to fill their vacant managerial post by appointing Mark Macrow as their new boss.
The KoolSport NCEL Division One side announced earlier this week that Graham Potter was moving to Sweden to take a manager's job in professional football there.
A statement on their website says: "This will be Mark's first chance to manage but he is fully committed to his development as a manager and coach and is relishing the opportunity to take the reins.
"Mark will be ably supported by James Earl who has been ever-present in recent years and who, despite the demands of commuting to and from working in Hull, still commits and is fully supportive of the Carnegie programme."
Director of Football John Hall said: "I think it's a great opportunity for Mark to step up to the plate. The position will challenge him but I think he will respond well.
"He knows the players having worked with them this season and understands where they are at having played both university and semi-professional football with Harrogate Railway, Harrogate Town and Alfreton Town.
"James will be great support for Mark as they have worked closely with Graham throughout and have already deputised for him at training and matchdays when called upon.
"They work well together and both believe in how we want to play and have benefited immensely from working alongside Graham.
"The players respect them and, therefore, I don't envisage any major changes in how we operate and so it is the logical step to allow them to step up."

Potter Goes to Sweden
12th January, 2011
Leeds Carnegie are both sad and delighted to announce the departure of manager-coach Graham Potter as he prepares to take over the reins at Swedish tier four club, Ostersund FK.The KoolSport NCEL Division One side are obviously sad as Graham will be greatly missed by everyone at the Club and University, none more so than the players who over the last two-and-a-half years have bought into and love playing the possession style of football Graham believes in and promotes so passionately.

But, they are also delighted as he will have the opportunity to manage and develop a forward thinking and ambitious club, allowing him the chance to implement his style and philosophy in the challenging and demanding environment of professional football.
John Hall, Director of Football, says: "I have been fortunate to have worked with Graham (right) over the last few years.
"We have spent a lot of time together and had some good times and some tough times, good debates, and some great laughs.
"For someone who has represented his country, played in the FA Premier League and amassed 320 professional games, he is a humble man.
"For me, he is a true student of the game and outstanding young coach with his own beliefs, thoughts and philosophy about football, how it should be played, how we need to develop and educate our young players and coaches in this country.
"His decision to move on, not just to a new club but also a new country, epitomises Graham's strong desire to succeed within football.
"In the time he has been at Leeds Met, he has led the club to the Universities Premier League, the third round of the FA Vase and, were it not for last season's international clearance ruling, the team would be playing in the NCEL Premier Division.
"He should also be proud that he has been able to develop our students not only as players but also as young people which should never be underestimated, especially within the Higher Education sector.
"On behalf of Leeds Metropolitan University, I wish Graham and his family every success.
"I, for one, will be keenly following Graham's career as I think it will be one to watch."
