Tributes paid to Paul Walden
3rd November, 2020
Grimsby Borough and Skegness Town have led tributes to their former manager Paul Walden following the very sad news that he has passed away.
Paul (pictured right) took charge of a number of Lincolnshire clubs over many years and, during one of three spells at Louth Town, he helped bring them up into the Toolstation NCEL in 2010 after successive promotions in the Central Midlands League.
Then, in his third spell there, he guided them to the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy final in 2015 before the club's withdrawal from the league that summer.
He then went on to manage Grimsby Borough, who said on Twitter: "All associated with Grimsby Borough are saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Walden.
"Wally was well known, respected and highly thought of within the local football community. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones."
Another of his clubs, Skegness Town, said on their website: "We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Skegness Town manager Paul Walden.
"Known to all as 'Wally', he was a well-known figure within the game and brought success to many of the clubs he was involved with."
And, NCEL secretary Matt Jones added his tribute on social media, saying: "Such sad news. Fantastic memories of my time at Louth Town with a brilliant team, inspired by this man."
All at the Toolstation NCEL would like to send our deepest thoughts and condolences to Paul's friends, family and all those who knew him at this most difficult time.
