Yorkshire Amateur and Liversedge tightened their grip on the top two spots in the Premier Division on a rain-soaked afternoon of Toolstation NCEL action on Saturday.Handsworth's home clash with
Hemsworth Miners Welfare in the top flight and
East Hull's Division One trip to
Selby Town were called off due to COVID-19 precautions whilst tighter restrictions had come into force for South Yorkshire clubs overnight but nothing, not even the bad weather, could dampen the spirit on another dramatic day of football.
The Ammers maintained their four point advantage over Sedge with a 3-1 home win over
Knaresborough Town, a Roy Fogarty brace either side of half-time giving them a two-goal cushion before Jack Carr halved the deficit but Stephen Smith made sure of the victory for the hosts in the 84th minute.
Liversedge have two games in hand on the leaders as their perfect start continued with an irresistable 6-0 defeat of hosts
Goole AFC, Paul Walker with their only goal prior to half-time before Oliver Fearon's strike, two from Joe Walton, and one each from Alfie Raw and Ashley Flynn in the final ten minutes confirmed a comfortable win.
Garforth Town climbed into the top four as second-half strikes from Joseph Colley and Sam Barker earned them a 2-0 home victory over
Thackley who remain in the bottom three ahead of
Bottesford Town now only on goal difference after the Poachers picked up a point in their match.
It could have been all three for Bottesford, however, after Dayle Hutson and Joe Moloney had them 2-0 up by the 25th minute but visitors
Eccleshill United fought back well with Samuel Awty and Jonathan Irving netting to ensure a 2-2 draw.
Four goals were also shared by
Barton Town and
Staveley Miners Welfare at the Easy Buy Stadium in a game where the deadlock was not broken until the 71st minute when Rieves Boocock and Sam Finlaw put the away side into a two-goal lead.
The Swans, however, rallied spectacularly with Nathan Peat and Grant Tait scoring in quick succession to claw the game back to 2-2 in dramatic fashion.
Penistone Church scored four times in a quarter-of-an-hour in the second half of their home game with
Grimsby Borough to seal the points, Luke Stewart setting things off on 55 minutes before Samuel Scrivens, Jordan Coduri and Daniel Howes also got in on the action.
Scrivens' second in stoppage time put the seal on the victory in a 5-0 win that moves Church up into eleventh spot.
Emley AFC have returned to the top of Division One after James Eyles' 87th minute winner in a 2-1 home defeat of
Hall Road Rangers, the visitors taking the lead on 51 through Richard Medcalf only for Aiden Savory to quickly restore parity for the prevailing Pewits.
They go above
Campion who dropped their first points of the season in a 2-0 loss to
North Ferriby at the Players Cars Stadium @ Manningham Mills Sports & Community Association.
Thomas Corner gave the visiting Villagers a 31st minute lead and Iwan Heeley doubled their advantage late in the second period to keep Ferriby in fourth on a day that saw all of the top five bar Campion picking up victories.
Brigg Town stay third after they sneaked a 4-3 win at
Parkgate, Stephen McCarron's second of the afternoon on 86 minutes grabbing the points in a match in which they trailed 2-0 at half-time.
And, two second-half penalties from Tyla Bell and Spenser Sheppard helped
Rossington Main to a 4-2 home win over
Hallam that consolidates Ben Hunter's side in fifth spot.
A Daniel Walker brace, plus goals from Josh Walker, Ryan Thompson, Elliott Vasalo and Jaime Ture, claimed a 6-1 home win for
Winterton Rangers over
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic to moves them up into sixth whilst
Skegness Town leap to seventh following a 3-1 victory at
Nostell Miners Welfare.
Cenk Acar and Gary King struck each side of the hour mark to take the win for the Lilywhites after their first half opener had been cancelled out following the interval.
Liam Bennett netted twice in
Retford FC's 4-1 win at
Armthorpe Welfare and the Choughs are now up to ninth in the table whilst two goals in the final two minutes from Kieran Greenaway saw
Harrogate Railway Athletic snatch a point in a 2-2 draw at
Swallownest.
And, there was joy for
Glasshoughton Welfare who move off the bottom of the table after a 4-0 win at
Dronfield Town, their first points of the campaign coming courtesy of a Mark Ferguson double and a goal each from Wayne Hughes and Connor McLauchlan.
