There was the much welcome return of Toolstation NCEL football whilst Liversedge produced a fantastic performance on their travels to move through to the next stage of the Buildbase FA Vase on Saturday.Jonathan Rimmington's side travelled to Northern League hosts Sunderland Ryhope CW for their Third Round clash with Sedge being the only NCEL Premier Division team still left in the competition.
And, they kept that representation going as they battled to a goalless draw and, even though they fell 2-0 behind in the penalty shoot out, Liversedge rallied to go through 4-3 on spot kicks.
Meanwhile, the first league matches in 45 days took place with
Yorkshire Amateur maintaining an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier Division and
Emley AFC returning to the top of Division One just in time for Christmas.
The Ammers were 4-2 victors at bottom side
Athersley Recreation whose quest for their first points of the season continues after Adam Priestley's double, a Casey Stewart strike and a remarkable overhead kick from Roy Fogarty gave the visitors the win whilst Lee Garside and Kyle Wordsworth netted for the hosts.
Garforth Town and
Bridlington Town climbed above Liversedge into second and third, respectively, in the Premier Division following victories.
Sam Denton and Daniel Coupland scored for Garforth just before half-time in a 2-0 defeat of hosts
Grimsby Borough who drop to sixth whilst Bridlington stormed to a 9-1 home trashing of
Handsworth.
Billy Logan set the tone with the Seasiders' opener in the first minute and they led by four at the break with Daniel Earl's brace and Thomas Waudby putting them in command.
Waudby's second, Earl's third and a goal from Brett Agnew put them 7-0 up before Samuel Smith opened Handsworth's account on 74 but it was the home side who added to the tally with William Annan and then Logan with his second completing the rout.
AFC Mansfield missed out on a chance to go third as they were beaten 1-0 at home by
Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Layton Swaine's late strike giving the visitors the win at the Forest Town Stadium that sees them up to thirteenth.
Kieran Suddards struck twice as
Albion Sports ran out 3-1 winners at
Staveley Miners Welfare, the hosts unable to win their first home game of the season whilst the Lions jump up to tenth following their victory.
Penistone Church and
Goole AFC marked their return to league action with wins that move them up the bottom half of the table.
Goole came from behind to beat visitors
Silsden AFC 2-1, Joshua Schofield and Joseph O'Neil with the Vikings' goals in the second period after Christopher Wademan had given the away side the lead at the end of the first half.
Brett Lovell, Jordan Coduri, Samuel Scrivens and Kurtis Turner scored for Penistone as they prevailed 4-0 at home to next-to-bottom
Bottesford Town.
And,
Maltby Main came from 3-1 down to take a point in a 3-3 home draw with
Thackley, Jonathan Hill and Jamie Austin rescuing the situation with goals in the last twenty minutes.
Knaresborough Town's home game with
Barton Town, meanwhile, was postponed as a COVID-19 precaution.
A hat-trick from James Eyles helped Emley to a 4-1 win at
Nostell Miners Welfare that sees the Pewits overtake
Campion, whose home game with
Selby Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, at the top of Division One.
North Ferriby move up to third after Iwan Heeley and Levi Tarbotton struck in each half in a 2-0 home victory over
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, leapfrogging
Brigg Town who went down 3-2 at
Hallam.
The Zebras led 2-0 before the hosts fought back midway through the second period, firstly with two quickfire goals from top scorer Kieran Watson and then Iren Wilson grabbed the home side's third to turn the match around in a dramatic six minute period.
Winterton Rangers are up to fifth thanks to a 5-1 win at
Armthorpe Welfare, Ryan Thompson's brace helping them above
Retford FC who stay sixth following their 1-1 home draw with
Glasshoughton Welfare.
Zach Casburn's penalty on the hour earned them a point after Mark Ferguson had given Welfare, who drop into the bottom four, a 24th minute lead.
Two late goals from Frederick Tracey snatched
Parkgate a 3-2 victory at the expense of visitors
Dronfield Town and the Steelmen are now up to eighth in the table.
And,
Swallownest climb to thirteenth after a 5-2 win at home to
Rossington Main with five different scorers as Richard Williams, Callum Greaves, Thomas Cropper, Alex Lill and Tyler Bradley all got on the scoresheet for the managerless hosts.
Meanwhile, two other Division One games were postponed with
Harrogate Railway Athletic versus
Hall Road Rangers called off due to a waterlogged pitch whilst
East Hull's visit to
Skegness Town will also now take place at a later date.
And, there were two friendlies with Brooklyn South grabbing both of Skegness' goals in a 2-0 home match with Spalding United and Talent Ndlovu scored a penalty in a 1-1 draw for
Eccleshill United with visitors Ossett United.
