Glasshoughton mourn sudden passing of Frank MacLachlan
23rd September, 2020
The Toolstation NCEL has been left stunned by the sudden passing of much loved Glasshoughton Welfare club secretary Frank MacLachlan.
The Division One club made the very sad announcement via their social media channels on Wednesday afternoon.
A statement read: "It is with great sorrow that we have to announce the sudden death of our much loved, valued and admired club secretary, Frank MacLachlan.
"Frank has been involved in local football for many years and latterly with the Northern Counties East League through Pontefract Collieries and Glasshoughton Welfare.
"He started his involvement many years ago as a committee member at Fryston Colliery Welfare before progressing to the post of secretary at Pontefract Collieries where he became expert at organising the day-to-day running of the club and liaising with other clubs in the league.
"He then took up the secretary's post as Glasshoughton Welfare following the retirement of Eric Jones.
"Frank has been a well known and much admired personality within the football family, being an active member of the Castleford & District Football Association from 1984 to the present date.
"Frank leaves behind a grieving wife and family and, as a club, we share their sorrow and loss."
The League sends its deepest thoughts and sympathies to everyone who knew Frank, especially his family and friends, at this very difficult time.
