New management team at Rail

12th November, 2017

Harrogate Railway Athletic have unveiled their new management team as they look to move away from the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division relegation zone.

They dismissed player-boss Liam Gray and coach Dennis Metcalfe after a disappointing start to the season with eleven consecutive defeats leaving them next-to-bottom in the table.

"I know that I did everything that I could," Gray told the Harrogate Advertiser last week.

"I had sixteen league games in charge, and in my mind I was planning for the next five years, not just sixteen matches.

"It would be a big ask of any manager in the world to try and transform a club with one of the lowest budgets in the league in the space of just sixteen games.

"I don't hold grudges though and I wish the club all the very best for the future."

The Rail, who won 1-0 at Albion Sports on Saturday for their third league win of the season, announced on Sunday that Marlon Adams is to be their new boss.

He will be assisted by Lee Ryan along with coaches Michael Reynolds and Ray Green.

A statement on the club's website said: "These men have shown great desire to become the next management team at Harrogate Railway.

"We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and we look forward to working with them to forge a new and successful future for the club."
