Proposal To Expand Division One
24th March, 2009
KoolSport NCEL Division One could be increased to twenty-two teams from the start of the 2009/10 season.
The League is considering the expansion to compensate for the lack of FA Cup action for the majority of the Division's clubs as only this season's top four sides will be guaranteed a place in the knock-out competition next season.
Five clubs are currently in the running to join the League: FC Brimington, Kimberley Town, Ollerton Town and Calverton Miners Welfare from the Central Midlands League and Scarborough Town from the Teesside League.
Our Ground Grading Committee is currently advising these clubs on what is required to get up to standard.
If the League gets enough clubs of a sufficient quality to make Division One a twenty-two team Division then it will be proposed at this summer's Annual General Meeting for clubs to vote on.
Meanwhile, nine Premier Division clubs currently without an F grade will be visited by the Ground Grading Committee over the next few days.
They are Armthorpe Welfare, Brodsworth Welfare, Dinnington Town, Hall Road Rangers, Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Liversedge, Nostell Miners Welfare, Parkgate and Selby Town.
If there are two or more teams in the Premier Division without an F grade for their ground at the end of this month then the two lowest placed of those teams when the season finishes will be relegated.
If there is only one team without an F grade then they will be relegated along with the bottom placed team with an F grade.
If all teams have an F grade then the bottom two sides in the table will be relegated as normal.
The Ground Grading Committee will also be visiting Askern Villa to see if they can achieve, by the end of this month, the G grade that they need to be promoted to the Premier Division should they finish in the top two.
The League will keep you up-to-date with all these developments throughout the next few weeks.
