24th October, 2008
Pickering Town moved up to second in the Koolsport NCEL Premier Division with a 1-0 victory at home to Brodsworth Welfare in midweek.
Lee Snodin's 42nd minute own goal was enough to give the Pikes their seventh win of the season and they are now two points behind leaders Mickleover Sports.
Four goals from Chibuzor Chilaka saw Bridlington Town demolish Long Eaton United 8-1, a win that saw the Seasiders climb to sixth in the table.
The home side were four-up within the opening seventeen minutes as Chilaka grabbed his hat-trick and Danny Buttle also found the net.
Chilaka completed his haul on 36 minutes before Buttle grabbed a second early on in the second half and Alex Rhodes also claimed a brace.
Martin Bowles claimed the visitors' sole consolation with sixteen minutes remaining.
A double strike in a minute at the end of the first period from James Atkinson and Andy Holt saw Winterton Rangers win 2-0 at Shirebrook Town.
Rangers are now seventh whilst Shirebrook remain four points adrift of the rest in the bottom three.
That's because the side above them, Nostell Miners Welfare, won 2-1 at home to Hallam after the visitors had taken the lead on 14 minutes through James Tevendale.
Francis Johnson levelled after the half-hour and Graham Marchant picked up the vital win for Nostell with three minutes remaining.
AFC Emley continued their quiet move up the Division One table with a 3-2 victory at Leeds Carnegie.
They took a third-minute lead through Steve Kenworthy before a Scott Hazelden own goal quickly let the hosts back and Andy Cooper gave Carnegie the lead halfway through the first period.
But, Marc Townsend made it 2-2 on the half-hour and Kenworthy grabbed his second and the winner with sixteen minutes remaining.
Emley moved up to third and are two points behind the Division One frontrunners, Scarborough Athletic.
Five sides booked their place in the last eight of the Wilkinson Sword Trophy.
A hat-trick for Lee Gregory saw Staveley Miners Welfare progress in a 4-3 win at Tadcaster Albion.
Rainworth Miners Welfare went through by the same scoreline at home to Rossington Main but they needed a winner in the last minute of extra-time from Alan Jefferies to claim the victory in a dramatic encounter.
Marc Rathbone and Jack Townroe struck in the last ten minutes to earn Teversal a 2-0 win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Yorkshire Amateur also won 2-0 as they beat visitors Scarborough Athletic, thanks a Patrick Miller penalty on the hour mark and Allan Laud made sure of the win in stoppage time.
And, Adam White's 88th-minute winner saw Pontefract Collieries through as they beat hosts Glasshoughton Welfare, 2-1.
Two of our five sides in Lincolnshire Senior Trophy action made it through to the Second Round.
Lincoln Moorlands Railway won 2-1 at home to fellow NCEL side Barton Town Old Boys, Simon Clifford with the vital strike on 73 minutes.
And, Grimsby Borough grabbed the same result over visitors, Nettleham.
But, Appleby Frodingham lost 3-2 at Blackstones and Bottesford Town were outclassed as they lost 7-1 at home to Boston Town.
In BUCS Premier League North, Scott McGrory struck on 74 minutes to give Leeds Carnegie a 1-0 win in a local derby at Leeds University.
