NCEL Match Review #37
14th December, 2008
Only three KoolSport NCEL matches survived the torrential rain at the weekend.
Pickering Town climbed into second spot in the Premier Division and are now three points behind leaders Mickleover Sports after a 4-2 home win over Shirebrook Town.
Chris Batchelor put them in the lead in the seventeenth minute from the penalty spot but the visitors levelled matters soon after with a goal from Simon Johnson.
However, Liam Salt and Steve Ward had the Pikes two ahead by the interval and Batchelor got his second and his side's fourth on 73 minutes.
Joe Naylor grabbed a late consolation for Shirebrook who remain in eighteenth.
One of the sides Pickering go above is Arnold Town who drew 1-1 at Long Eaton United.
They took the lead on 58 minutes through Mark Brewster but Alex Steadman made sure the spoils were shared thirteen minutes later.
The only match to survive the weather in Division One was between the bottom two sides.
Glasshoughton Welfare are now eleven points drift of Rossington Main who beat them 4-2 on their own patch.
Thomas Carr had put Welfare ahead early on before Rob Burton, Sean Nicholls and Lee Holmes had Main 3-1 up by the hour mark.
A Michael Amos penalty brought the hosts back into it with four minutes remaining, but Holmes calmed the visitors' nerves with their fourth as the game went into injury time.
