Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2021/22 #13

16th September, 2021

Eccleshill United have leapt up seven places to seventh in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a 4-2 home win over Knaresborough Town in midweek.

A hat-trick from Talent Ndlovu, two from the penalty spot, after Jonny Irving had netted them an equaliser, secured the victory for the Eagles.

Jack Carr had given the visitors a thirteenth minute lead before Eccleshill made it 3-1 by the interval, Calum Ward pulled one back on 69, only for Ndlovu's third to seal the deal as the game moved towards stoppage time.

In the other Premier Division match played, it was a point apiece between Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Goole AFC with a 2-2 draw at the Just Football MDC Sports Stadium.

A Declan Dawson own goal broke the deadlock early on for the visiting Vikings but the scores were level at the interval courtesy of Layton Swaine's equaliser.

Samuel Tingle put the home side in front on 70 but the lead lasted only three minutes with Luke Williams ensuring the spoils were shared.

Goole, however, ended the match with nine men as there was a double red card with thirteen minutes remaining.

Elsewhere, the First Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup continued with five of our sides making it through to the next stage.

Joshua Brown and Samuel Foulds scored in Athersley Recreation's 2-1 win at Harworth Colliery whilst Maltby Main were 4-1 home victors over Hall Green United with Chandler Gibson's double adding to earlier strikes by Connor Cutts and Reagan Waud.

Sam Ackroyd got both of Parkgate's goals in a 2-1 defeat of hosts AFC Bentley, and Hallam won the all-NCEL tie with visitors Swallownest 4-0.

Liam Royles and Max Pemberton had given the Countrymen a two goal advantage by the half-hour mark and their lead was doubled in the final quarter-of-an-hour by Christopher Wood and James Gregory.

And, Nostell Miners Welfare progressed at the expense of visitors Swinton Athletic, Anees Younis getting all of their goals, including one spot-kick, in a 3-0 home victory.
