Welfare Boss Quits After Big Defeat
23rd August, 2008
Glasshoughton Welfare have released a statement concerning their manager this evening.
It reads: "The Glasshoughton Manager, Dave Holmes, resigned today after the 8-1 defeat at Teversal.
"Dave had been in the position for one year and initially worked under very difficult circumstances as the Club restructured its management board.
"Unfortunately, Dave was unable to produce the start to the new season that everyone had wished for under the far more stable club situation and feels that he should pass the responsibility on to another incumbent.
"The Club would like to thank Dave for all his considerable efforts over the last twelve months.
"The current Assistant First Team Manager, Phil Riding, will take temporary control of all team affairs until a new man is appointed but does not wish to be considered for the job on a permanent basis.
"Anyone interested in the First Team Manager position should immediately contact Ray Gowan, Glasshoughton's Director of Football, on 07973 132183 or email raygowan@hotmail.com.
"All suitable applicants will be interviewed as a matter of priority by the full Glasshoughton Committee."
Glasshoughton dropped to the bottom of Division One following the defeat as the side try to rebuild following relegation from the top flight last season.
