Colls Turn The Corner
2nd September, 2008
After what was a turbulent summer, Pontefract Collieries believe they can now start looking to the future after an excellent start to the new campaign.
A wholesale change of personnel at Skinner Lane took place during the close season after the club finished bottom of Division One.
There is an almost totally new committee chaired by Trevor Waddington and a completely new squad managed by Simon Houghton who joined from Central Midlands side, Kinsley Boys.
Now, the Colls are sixth in the table and have notched up nine points in four games, equalling the tally they achieved in the whole of last season.
They have won their last four matches in all competitions - their best record since they won six on the bounce in 1999.
And, Ponte, who have been in the NCEL since League was formed in 1982, are hoping that a new chapter in their long-running tale can begin.
