Woolford is Iron Hero
29th May, 2009
A former NCEL player was the hero for Scunthorpe United as they claimed promotion to the Championship in dramatic fashion.
Martyn Woolford, who spent three years with Glasshoughton Welfare as a youngster, struck a late winner in their 3-2 League One Play-Off triumph over Millwall at Wembley.
After his spell at Leeds Road, he moved to Frickley Athletic and then York City before signing for the Glanford Park side.
And, he will now be playing against the likes of Newcastle United and Middlesborough next season.
He said: "It's amazing, it's a dream come true for me."
