Northen Goes North
15th August, 2008
Winterton Rangers' top goal-getter Rob Northen has finally succumbed to the lure of a higher division by signing for North Ferriby United earlier this week.
The striker had attracted a lot of interest after being the League's top goalscorer last season but had stayed with the West Street side until the approach from the UniBond League side.
A club spokesman said: "We are sad to see Robby go, but understand fully why he has taken the opportunity to move up two divisions.
"Rob is a real talent and a gentleman and will be missed.
"It will be strange not to see him, his mum and Dad and Daughter around, and we wish him every success."
Manager Pete Daniel, though, has had some good news in the week when he bagged the signing of ex-UniBond player Ian Twitchen.
Pete has been following Ian's career since they worked together early in Twitchen's career at Pontefract Collieries, and is delighted Ian has decided to come to Rangers.
