Northen Back At West Street
7th September, 2008
A month after leaving Rangers for a spell at North Ferriby United, prolific striker Rob Northen has returned to Winterton Rangers.
And, he returned in style with a four goal haul in an 8-0 friendly win at Appleby Frodingham on Saturday.
A club spokesperson said: "Rob felt he had to give it another try at the higher level after initially signing from Ferriby three years ago.
"He had a month in the Unibond Premier but has decided he enjoyed his football more at Winterton and so made himself available for Saturday's short trip to Scunthorpe."
The friendly was arranged at short notice between Peter Daniel and ex-Rangers coach and now manager at App-Frod, John Simpson.
It also saw Rangers' first string keeper, and son of John, Ben Simpson line up for the home side and concede six goals, in what has been described as "a very friendly, friendly".
