Rangers Part Company With Richards
8th March, 2009
Steve Richards has resigned as manager of KoolSport NCEL Premier Division side, Hall Road Rangers.
It follows a 5-2 defeat at home to bottom club Eccleshill United on Saturday that made it seven losses in a row for the Dene Park outfit.
In that time, they have fallen to sixteenth in the table.
The club issued a statement on Sunday night that said: "After a string of poor results, Steve Richards has resigned from his post as manager of Hall Road Rangers football club with immediate effect.
"He felt he could take the club no further.
"The club wish to thank him for all the success he has brought to the club, including last season's promotion and the Wilkinson Sword Trophy, and wish him all the success for the future.
"The club has moved swiftly to replace the manager and have appointed Jamie Barnwell as caretaker manager until the end of the season.
"Martin Thacker will take over in the assistant manager's role.
"Both will continue as players and, after discussion with the committee, they will start their new roles with immediate effect."
Their first game in charge will be their Premier Division trip to Winterton Rangers on Wednesday.
