Midfielder Goes To Blue Square Prem
23rd March, 2009
Winterton Rangers midfielder Nicky McNamara has signed for Blue Square Premier side, Rushden & Diamonds.
He made four appearances for the West Street side over the last two months whilst looking for another professional team after his release from Hull City.
He had a week's trial at Nene Park and has now been given the number four shirt there.
All at Winterton have wished Nicky all the best and have thanked him for his short spell at the club.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Jonathan Plant did not break his ankle at the weekend.
He was injured during their home game with Arnold and had to be taken to hospital.
The club say that Plant has damaged ligaments, the severity of which will not be known until the swelling goes down.
Jonathan's brother Matt is also on the sidelines after suffering a fractured cheekbone against Hall Road Rangers.
Rangers have had four other players with broken bones in a torrid season for them.
Rob Northen and Lee Mohammed have had broken legs whilst Dave Watson broke a toe and Steve Robinson has had to have his arm in a sling.
Gregg Archer also suffered complications when a dead leg turned into problems with a blood clot.
The club are taking a pragmatic view of their run of bad fortune, though, joking, "Even the physio, Brian Jarvis, has had time away with a bad back."
