Newton Steps Down as Sedge Boss

5th May, 2009

Steve Newton has decided to stand down as Liversedge's first team manager.

Team members were informed of his decision at the club's Presentation Night last Friday.

The club committee have thanked Steve and his assistant David Gibson for their work and commitment to the club for the last two seasons.

In his first year as manager, Steve guided the first team to fourth in the NCEL Premier Division and won the President's Cup.

This season, Steve has given everything for the club despite the many changes in playing staff and difficult economic climate that has forced the club to re-evaluate its finances several times over the season.

Steve has also given many of the under 19's youngsters their chance in the first team - a policy that was strongly backed by the committee, and that is seen as vital to the long term future of the club.

Liversedge are now inviting applications for the roles of First Team Manager and Coach.

Applications should be made in writing to Liversedge FC, Quaker Lane, Liversedge, West Yorkshire, WF15 8DF by next Friday (15th).
