Sedge Blast Lacy Claim
10th May, 2009
Liversedge have hit back furiously at claims by one of their former managers that the club had given him false hopes and were not ambitious.
Along with his assistant Kym Farrand, Eugene Lacy left the club in 2006, six months after the Clayborn Ground side were overlooked for promotion to the UniBond League due to ground issues.
He said yesterday on the KoolSport NCEL website: "The season we did not go up should have been the season we quit, but foolishly we believed all we heard and stayed on.
"I do want to get back into the game and hopefully recreate the side and togetherness we had at Sedge, but this time with someone who is ambitious enough to go along with us."
Liversedge secretary Bryan Oakes has responded angrily to his comments, saying: "Liversedge celebrate their centenary next season and, without a hard working committee and ambition by the people whom have served the club still trying to reach their ambitions, the achievement would not have been possible.
"I must remind the person complaining because he didn't get the promotion he thought he deserved that the club will always
be here promoting sport to the best level it can long after that person has gone and taken what he can from the game."
